A Medicare Advantage plan is another health coverage choice you may have as part of Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “part C or MA Plans,” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage. The plan must include everything covered by traditional Medicare, but may offer more benefits (such as vision, hearing, dental) or lower copays.
Most plans charge a monthly premium (in addition to Part B premium) and most include Part D coverage. Your choice of doctors and other providers may be restricted to those in the plans network, Each plan can, each calendar year, change it’s premiums, it’s extra benefits and it’s copays, or withdraw from Medicare. Each plan has an annual limit on out-of pocket costs.
